Preparing for Your First Floating Sound Bath

Everything You Need to Know for the Ultimate Relaxation Experience

Floating Sound Baths offer a deeply restorative experience—combining the gentle support of water with the healing vibrations of sound to create a profound sense of stillness and calm. If you're preparing for your first session, here’s a guide to help you feel comfortable, supported, and ready to float.

🌊 What Is a Floating Sound Bath?

A Floating Sound Bath is a therapeutic session where you lie on a floating airbed in a pool while immersed in soothing sounds such as crystal bowls, chimes, and the grounding rhythm of a shamanic drum. The combination of floatation and sound helps release stress, quiet the mind, and bring your whole system back into balance.

🧾 What to Bring

We recommend comfy clothes and bringing your own pillow and blanket for extra comfort
We recommend comfy clothes and bringing your own pillow and blanket for extra comfort
  • Clothing – Some people wear just swimwear, while others come fully clothed—some even arrive in their pyjamas! What you wear is entirely up to you. You’ll remain on a floating bed above the water during the sound bath, but you do have the option to dip into the pool afterwards if you'd like.

  • Swimwear & Towel – Bring these if you'd like to jump into the pool for a few minutes after your session.

  • Robe or Extra Layers – Especially useful after a dip or just to stay cosy.

  • Crystals or Personal Items – You’re welcome to place your own crystals or meaningful objects on or near you for additional support.

  • Pillow or Blanket – Some clients like to bring their own comforts to enhance relaxation.

  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing – For outdoor sessions, please dress according to the forecast and bring extra layers or sun protection as needed.

  • Change for Lockers – Some venues require a coin or token for locker use.

  • Water Bottle – Staying hydrated supports the healing process.

🕊️ How to Prepare Mentally & Physically

1. Arrive with Time to Settle

Give yourself space to arrive calmly—this is a time to slow down and be fully present.

2. Eat Lightly Beforehand

A light meal or snack beforehand is best—avoid anything too heavy or greasy.

3. Set a Personal Intention

Whether you’re seeking rest, healing, or emotional release, setting a gentle intention can help you connect more deeply with the experience.

💡 What to Expect During the Session

  • Your practitioner will begin with a brief safety talk, explain how the session works, and share the role of Reiki energy that supports the healing experience.

  • You'll be guided onto your floating bed, where a short guided meditation will gently ease you into stillness.

  • The sound healing journey begins, using a range of instruments—including crystal bowls, chimes, and the shamanic drum—to create therapeutic vibrations that move through your body and surroundings.

  • The session closes with another guided meditation to ground and centre you before you leave the pool.

After the session, you're invited to:

  • Pick a mindful message card for reflection.

  • Take an aftercare card with tips to support your integration and wellbeing.

  • If you'd like to enjoy the water, you’re welcome to dip into the pool for a few minutes—no need to book, just enjoy.

🌟 After the Session

  • Take your time when getting up—let your body adjust gently.

  • Stay hydrated and give yourself a quiet space to reflect or rest.

  • Allow the benefits of the session to unfold naturally over the hours or days ahead.

💬 Final Thoughts

Your first Floating Sound Bath is an invitation to come home to yourself. There’s no pressure to "do" anything—just receive. Whether you arrive in your coziest loungewear, your favourite swimwear, or with a crystal in hand, this is a space to completely let go and just be.
