Floating Sound Bath 101: Everything You Were Too Embarrassed to Ask

You’ve seen the photos. Dimly lit pools. Rows of floating airbeds. People in blissed-out stillness while crystal bowls hum through the water.
It looks beautiful - but also a bit… mysterious.
So let’s be real. Here’s everything you wanted to ask about Floating Sound Baths (but didn’t want to type into Google).

What actually happens?
You arrive at the pool, greeted by our team. The scent of calming Florida water is in the air. The space is calm, candlelit, and warm. You’ll find a clean, comfortable airbed waiting for you — your personal floating sanctuary. Then, the lights dim, the safety instuctions, meditation and live sound begins. Gongs, crystal bowls, koshi chimes, drums — waves of sound that travel through the water and your body.
There’s no “doing” required. You float. You breathe. You receive.
Do people fall asleep?
Constantly. And that’s okay — your nervous system finally gets to exhale. Floating Sound Baths drop you into the space between wake and sleep, known as the theta state. That’s where deep healing and emotional reset naturally occur.
What if I cry? Or feel nothing?
Both are welcome. Some guests release tears, laughter, or memories. Others simply feel calm and light. Your body knows what it needs to process — trust that. The sound finds the spaces that need it most.
Is it weird to come alone?
Not at all. Most people come solo. Once you’re floating, it’s just you, the sound, and the water. You’re surrounded, but entirely held in your own experience.
What do I wear?
Think comfort, not catwalk. Swimwear or light sportswear. Some people even come in their pyjamas, Bring a blanket, water bottle, and an open mind.
Will I get wet?
Very unlikely. You’ll stay mostly dry, floating on the surface. But the sound waves? They’ll move through you completely.
Is it safe if I can’t swim?
Absolutely. Every session has trained facilitators, and lifeguard-level safety standards. You’re on stable airbeds, supported, guided, and checked throughout.
So what’s the point of all this floating?
To remind you that stillness doesn’t have to be stiff. To experience meditation without sitting cross-legged or trying to stop your thoughts. To feel what real surrender feels like.
Because in the water, everything softens — the body, the mind, the need to control.
What if I snore?
People worry about this more than anything — but honestly, nobody will hear you.The sound of the pool, the resonance of the bowls, the gongs, the chimes… it all blends into a full immersive soundscape that naturally drowns out any little noises. If you drift off, that’s a good thing. It means your body feels safe enough to let go.
What if I can’t relax or my mind won’t switch off?
You don’t have to “get it right” or force anything. Floating Sound Baths aren’t about trying to calm your mind — the combination of water, vibration and live sound naturally guides your system into deeper states of rest. Even if your thoughts feel busy at the start, your body will gradually soften and settle. Relaxation happens for you, not because you’re trying to make it happen.
What if I need to get out to use the toilet?
It’s absolutely fine. You can quietly let a facilitator know and we’ll guide you safely to the poolside. People worry they’ll disturb the session, but you won’t — the space is dark, the sound is flowing, and everyone is deeply in their own experience. If you need to step out, you can.
